Money transfers from Russia to Georgia decreased by 44.1% in June – Kommersant

In June, $129.3 million was transferred from Russia to Georgia by fast transfer systems, which is 44.1% less compared to June 2022, informs national bank of the country.
At the same time, Russia retains leadership among all countries from which foreign currency is transferred to Georgia. In second place is Italy – $ 42.93 million transfers, in third place is the United States – $ 38.73 million.
In general, in June, the total amount of money transfers to Georgia amounted to $353.2 million, which is 17.4% less than in the same period last year ($427.4 million). As noted in the material of the regulator, the decrease in the amount was due to a reduction in transfers from the Russian Federation.
According to unofficial data, from 100,000 to 120,000 citizens moved to Georgia from Russia in 2022. According to the law, Russians can live in Georgia as tourists for a year with the possibility of extending this period if they leave the country for a few days.
