Moldovagaz will ask the government to take emergency measures to pay for gas from Russia

The gas company “Moldovagaz” will apply to the National Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova in the near future. The company is going to ask the commission to consider gas payment options for August and September. This was announced by the chairman of the company Vadim Cheban. Previously, Gazprom granted Moldovagaz a delay in the payment of the advance payment for August until September 1.
“JSC Moldovagaz will soon apply to the National Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova with a proposal to consider options for resolving the issue of paying for natural gas supplies in August and September in order to uninterrupted gas supply to the republic,” Vadim Cheban wrote in his Telegram channel.
Today, August 22, Gazprom informed, which provided Moldovagaz with a deferment in the payment of an advance payment for gas supplies until September 1, 2022. Moldovagaz asked about it three times. Also today in the Moldovan company reportedthat paid the gas mortgage for July.
Previously, Moldovagaz also requested defer payment for September. On August 17, Moldovagaz announced that it had cut off more than 2,000 debtors so that the debt to Gazprom would not increase.
In October 2021, Gazprom extended the contract for gas supplies to Moldova, subject to timely payment of debts. At that time, Moldova’s gas debt was $709 million.
