Moldovagaz does not have enough funds to make an advance payment to Gazprom

The chairman of the board of the Moldovagaz gas distribution company, Vadim Cheban, said that the company would not be able to pay Gazprom for the gas consumed in August. Moldovagaz does not have enough funds for this, he told the publication NewsMaker.md Mr Cheban.
“With the existing methodology (calculation of gas tariffs.— “b”) I don’t see how we can ask for a raise. In this situation, even if we ask for a raise, ANRE (National Energy Regulatory Agency.— “b”) will still approve the tariff at the average annual price,” said the chairman of the board of Moldovagaz.
August 2 “Moldovagaz” asked “Gazprom” on the postponement of the August payment. According to Vadim Cheban, the company has not received a response. Moldovagaz expects that in the fourth quarter of 2022 a different pricing formula will be applied, due to which the purchase price will significantly decrease.
From August 1, the purchase price of natural gas for Moldova increased from $980 to $1458.5. Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu at the end of May spoke on the need to revise the terms of the contract with Gazprom, and also called for the search for other gas suppliers.
