Moldovan Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov said that now it makes no sense to renegotiate the current agreement with Gazprom, despite the fact that the parties had disagreements on some issues.
“The contract is working and it makes sense to sit down at the negotiating table to revise it after the settlement of the differences that have accumulated between the parties. Let’s first complete the audit completely, ”Parlikov said on the air of the TVR channel (quoted by TASS). We are talking about the audit of the Moldovagaz company.
The head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Cheban, said on March 17 that the international audit is planned to be completed by the end of the month. According to him, in March the purchase price for Russian gas for Moldova amounted to $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Information on Moldova’s gas debt to Russia varies. According to Gazprom, the country owes $709 million ($433 million is the debt itself, and the rest is penalties for late payments). According to the data of the Accounts Chamber of Moldova at the end of 2021, we are talking about $590.8 million. The audit of the debt was prescribed in the gas supply agreement in 2022.
