Moldovan state-owned enterprise Energocom purchased an additional 10 million cubic meters. m of gas in case Gazprom decides to stop deliveries. Mr. Spinu said that the gas was purchased at a price of €94.95/MW (or €997 per 1,000 cubic meters). Energocom made a purchase within the framework of the Reliability of Natural Gas Supplies project. A tranche of up to €100 million was allocated for this project, received under a loan agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction, Spinu added.
In 2021, Gazprom extended a five-year contract for the supply of gas to Moldova, subject to timely payment of debts.
