MMK bought the Tikhov mine in the Kemerovo region from IMH

PJSC “Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works” (MMK) Viktor Rashnikov closed a deal to purchase the Tikhov mine in the Leninsk-Kuznetsk district of the Kemerovo region from Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH), the press services of the companies reported.

Kommersant drew attention to reports about the closing of the deal. It took place between LLC MMK-Ugol and PJSC Koks, which are members of the group, respectively. Its cost is not disclosed.

“For the quantity and quality of the produced coke, the sale of the mine to them. Tikhov will not be affected. The falling volumes of coking coal will be compensated by purchases in the domestic market,” – says in the IMH statement.

IN “MMK» reportedthat the Tikhov mine is located “in close proximity” to the operating mine of the Kostromovskaya group. “These mines are developing neighboring sections of the Nikitinsky coal deposit in Kuzbass, which has high reserves of Zh grade coking coal. Tikhov allows you to get direct synergy between assets, most effectively optimize operating costs and mining plans within the combined complex,” the release says. Also, the acquisition of the mine will make it possible to fully load the Belovskaya processing plant.

The Tikhov mine has been operating since 2017, its production capacity is about 1.3-1.5 million tons per year with the prospect of expanding to 2.8 million tons per year.
