Mishustin: industrial production in the EAEU has grown by 20% over 10 years, in Europe by 10%

Industrial production in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has grown by 20% over the past ten years, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said. He drew attention to the fact that Russian figures are twice as high as those in Europe, where the growth was 10%.
“Over the past ten years, the main socio-economic indicators of the Member States have shown a positive trend. GDP per capita grew by more than a third. This is higher than the world average,” said Mr. Mishustin at a meeting of the heads of delegations of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian (TASS quote).
The Prime Minister noted that in 2021, the unemployment rate in the EAEU was less than 5%, which is significantly lower than similar global and European indicators for the corresponding period.
In addition, Mikhail Mishustin said that Armenia made a significant contribution to the development of the EAEU. According to the data of the Russian Prime Minister, this year Armenia occupies a leading position in terms of growth rates of mutual trade. The country’s trade turnover with partners in the EAEU has more than doubled in seven months compared to the same period last year. Mr. Mishustin believes that according to the results of 2022, the figure will be even higher.
In early August, the Eurasian Economic Commission summed up ten years of integration of the EAEU countries. According to the statistical compilation, industrial production in the union increased by 20% in 2012-2021. However, due to the uncoordinated industrial policy, this growth had almost no effect on such a key indicator as the share of mutual trade in the total trade turnover of the five countries.
