Cards of the national payment system “Mir” for the first time occupied more than half of the card market – in the third quarter, “Mir” accounted for 52.5% of the volume of all card transactions in Russia and 51.6% of all cards issued. As the Central Bank reported, at the end of six months of 2023, Mir accounted for 49.4% of the volume of card transactions and 48.2% of all cards issued. According to the regulator, banks issued a total of 256 million Mir cards.

In the third quarter of 2023, banks issued 424.9 million cards for individuals, the volume of transactions on them amounted to 44.3 billion rubles. At the same time, 14.4 billion rubles. In 2022, the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard, which occupied the main share in it, left the Russian card market.
