Mintsifra plans to allow operators to raise communication prices above inflation

The Ministry of Digital Development has prepared a draft strategy for the development of the Russian communications industry until 2035. He published on the agency portal. According to the document, operators will be allowed tariffs for communication above inflation. They will also sometimes be able to use foreign equipment.

As follows from the document, operators will be able to raise communication tariffs above inflation if they reinvest a significant part of the additional profit they receive in significant projects for the development of communication networks, the development of new technologies aimed at achieving the goals of the strategy.

The strategy also proposes to introduce the category of “trusted MSW”, which will meet the established requirements for information security. According to the document, telecom operators can use foreign-made equipment if it belongs to the category of trusted MSW.

“The transition to the use of only domestically produced MSW in communication networks is possible in cases where domestic competitive products are presented on the Russian market that can replace foreign-made MSW without degrading the quality of the communication services provided,” the document says.

The day before, Kommersant wrote that the government had proposed a mechanism for sharing radio frequencies between law enforcement agencies and civilian telecom operators. It is assumed that in the event of a state of emergency, communications completely pass under the control of law enforcement agencies, which will be able to turn off civilian networks.
