About 1.8 thousand villages in Russia will be connected to the Internet in 2023 as part of the Bridging the Digital Divide program. About it reported Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
“We are summing up the voting results for connecting settlements to the Internet as part of the Bridging the Digital Divide project. 1,800 villages and villages with the most votes will be connected to the network in 2023,” the ministry said in a statement. The project aims to bring the Internet to all settlements where 100 to 500 people live by 2030.
Voting took place from October 12 to November 26. The largest number of votes was received from Bashkiria. 43.7 thousand people voted by mail and another 38.1 thousand on the public services portal. The top also included the Krasnodar Territory (25.5 thousand), Chelyabinsk Region (21.5 thousand), Tatarstan (19.3 thousand) and Nizhny Novgorod Region (17.5 thousand).
