The name of Mega shopping centers in Russia will not change. This was announced by State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov, transmits “RIA News”.
“Group Gazprombank intends to develop the acquired space without rebranding – the plan is to preserve the recognizable Mega brand,” he said.
Evtukhov added that all jobs and rights of employees will also be preserved in full.
He noted that now Gazprombank (GPB) is working on a strategy to replace the vacated space of IKEA and Mega after the departure of foreign companies. In addition, the audit of the Mega investment program is being completed, which the new owner of the assets plans to resume in the near future, the deputy minister said.
At the end of September it became known that the group GPB purchased all Mega shopping and entertainment centers in Russia from the Swedish Ingka Centres. The deal included 14 objects in Moscow, Moscow region, Leningrad region, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Adygea, Samara, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. Their total area is 2.3 million square meters. m.
The transaction amount is not disclosed. General Director of Infoline Analytics Mikhail Burmistrov doubted that the value of the asset in current conditions and taking into account discounts could exceed $2 billion.
