The Ministry of Energy noted that in the summer “volatility on the stock exchange” was associated with the recovery in prices for Russian oil products on the world market and with changes in the ruble exchange rate. “In addition, motor fuel prices traditionally rise in the summer,” a representative of the department told Izvestia. The Ministry of Energy reported that it regularly holds meetings with market participants and, together with Russian Railways, controls the delivery of bulk oil cargo to the regions.
The cost of diesel fuel in wholesale once again peaked on August 17 (67.9 thousand rubles per ton). The wholesale price of the AI-95 reached a historical record (almost 71,000 rubles) the day before, on 23 August. According to Rosstat, retail prices rose by 0.6% last week.
