In Russia, almost 46 million sq. m of housing, informed Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation Irek Fayzullin in a comment to TASS.
“Almost 46 million sq. m was introduced – everything is going according to plan, ”he said.
As the agency recalls, for the same period in 2022, housing commissioning amounted to 50.28 million square meters. m, i.e. commissioning of residential space slowed down by 8.5% yoy.
In 2022, Russia had introduced 102.7 million sq. m of housing, reported Rosstat, which is 11% higher than in 2021. This is a record figure since 1991. At the same time, individual housing construction (IZHS) accounted for 57.2 million square meters. m – 16.5% more than in 2021, and for multi-apartment housing – 45.5 million square meters. m (+0.7%). The growth rate of housing commissioning slowed down somewhat compared to the results of 2021 (92.6 million sq. m., +12.6% year-on-year), but turned out to be higher than in 2020 (82.2 million sq. m., +0 .2%) and pre-crisis 2019 (82 million sq. m., + 8.4%).
Earlier in April, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged address imbalances in the real estate market and support demand for new housing. “We need to ensure sustainable, long-term development of the construction sector, and above all, we need to support the demand for housing,” he said.
The preferential mortgage program for new buildings was supposed to end in 2022, but on December 29, the authorities extended it until July 1, 2024, raising the rate from 7 to 8%, Vedomosti wrote. In Russia, there are several more targeted mortgage state programs: family (6% per annum), for IT-specialists (5%), rural (3%) and Far Eastern (2%).
