Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova said that the Maly Theater has not yet decided on Yuri Solomin’s successor. She noted that Solomin’s death is an irreparable loss.
“We deliberately do not touch either the management of the theater or the members of the troupe. We will meet with our “elders”, the administration and management of the theater, and jointly make a decision,” the minister noted.
Solomin died on January 11 at the age of 88. He has been artistic director of the Maly Theater since 1988.
Solomin died of kidney failure. Complications for the actor occurred against the background of a stroke with damage to the temporal region and multiple hemorrhages in the brain.
