On Wednesday, developers of the user interface, software, graphic design and other technical specialists lost their jobs. In total, the company laid off 4,000 people.
Wednesday’s layoffs are part of a larger cost-cutting plan that sees the company lay off a total of 21,000 people. The next round of cuts is expected to take place in May.
Earlier, the head of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, said that as part of the cuts, numerous “management layers” would be eliminated, the organization would become “flatter”, and the contribution of managers would be expanded. In addition, plans to hire new employees will be suspended and non-priority projects will be curtailed.
