Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of the American corporation Meta (banned in Russia and recognized as an extremist organization), which owns Facebook and Instagram resources banned in Russia, as well as the WhatsApp messenger, does not plan to leave his post next year. About it informed company representative Andy Stone on Twitter.
“This is not true,” he wrote.
Earlier on Zuckerberg’s plans to leave Meta informed online portal The Leak with a link to the source. At the same time, this decision will not affect the “metaverse” in any way, the material says. It is clarified that the decision to leave the post may be due to pressure from shareholders who are skeptical about investments in the virtual universe.
Early November Bloomberg wrotethat each quarter, Zuckerberg spends more on his project than any company on the S&P 500 list invested in all of its projects in the entire past year. In particular, the total investment of Meta this year amounted to $85-87 billion, in 2023 the company estimates investments at $101 billion.
November 9 Reuters informed about Meta’s plans to lay off 13% of its employees, i.e. more than 11,000 people against the backdrop of declining company revenues. Meta will pay laid-off employees 16 weeks of base salary as severance pay, plus two additional weeks for each year they work at the company. The corporation will also give up all non-key spending and extend the moratorium on hiring until the end of the first quarter of 2023. Zuckerberg then said that he takes responsibility for the current situation.
