Mercedes-Benz intends to sell its car assembly plant in the Moscow region, Kommersant learned. We are talking about a site in Esipovo, near Moscow, owned by Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Rus, where Daimler KamAZ Rus JV owns 20%, and the rest belongs to the parent Mercedes-Benz AG.
A Kommersant source in the real estate market said that the Avtodom dealer is also applying for the plant, and the Moscow Region Development Corporation is participating in the negotiations. According to Kommersant’s source in auto retail, this is a complex deal, which also includes the rights of the brand’s distributor on the Russian market.
The Russian office of Mercedes-Benz told Kommersant that the company is “considering various options for doing business in Russia,” but “there are no concrete decisions yet.” Avtodom declined to comment on the information.
