Media: VK banned employees from working remotely outside of Russia

The Russian technology company VK has banned its employees from working remotely outside of Russia. This is reported TASS with a link to a company message sent to employees.

“We keep this format (remote work. — ”b”), but we clarify that it is possible from the territory of Russia,” the company said in a statement.

According to TASS, the letter explains that employees need to “be in the same context with users and understand their needs.”

The Bell (recognized as a foreign agent), which also read the text of the letter, reports that the company justified its decision by “a balance between the comfort of employees and business efficiency.” In the letter, The Bell reports, employees are invited to choose a location suitable for work and coordinate it with management.

January 12 Telegram channel “We can explain” with reference to sources informedthat VK intends to fire employees who left Russia. Allegedly, department heads “ordered to return remote employees to Russia,” and VK is going to officially announce the decision before the end of the quarter. The press service of the company denied this information. The company explained that it was only recommended to return to those employees whose specific work is related to the security of data of users, employees and contractors.
