The European Union will not lift sanctions against Yandex co-founder Arkady Volozh. The restrictions will remain in effect for another six months. reported Bloomberg agency citing sources.
In August, Volozh publicly condemned the special operation. A little earlier, he removed data on connections with Russia and the USSR from his page. The businessman now describes himself as a “Kazakhstan-born Israeli tech entrepreneur, computer scientist, investor and philanthropist.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum commented businessman’s statement. He connected Volozh’s change of position with the desire to live well in Israel and have good relations with local authorities.
The co-founder of Yandex moved to Israel in 2015. EU entered restrictions against him as part of the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions in June 2022.
