Media: Poland nationalizes Gazprom’s share in its part of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline

The Polish authorities decided to withdraw Gazprom’s stake in Europol Gaz, the newspaper reports. Rzeczpospolita. This is the operator of the Polish part of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. Shares in it belong to Gazprom, PGNiG and Gas Trading.
The decision to withdraw Gazprom’s stake in EuRoPol Gaz was made by Polish Minister of Economic Development and Technology Waldemar Buda at the request of the Internal Security Agency, Rzeczpospolita reports.
According to the decision, which will come into force immediately, the minister introduced temporary compulsory administration in relation to the Russian entity – PJSC Gazprom. Radoslav Kwasnicki, an experienced lawyer and expert on fuel and gas issues, has been appointed head of the provisional administration.
Transnational gas pipeline “Yamal-Europe” passes on the territory of four countries – Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany. So far, Gazprom and the Polish PGNiG each have a 48% stake in EuRoPol Gaz, while PKN Orlen has 4%, Rzeczpospolita reports.
In September, Poland imposed sanctions on the Russian company Gazprom Export and said its assets would be frozen. In November, the European Commission decided to allocate €225.6 million to Germany for takeovers subsidiaries of Gazprom.
