McDonald’s plans corporate staff cuts

McDonald’s will announce the layoff of some employees by April 3, CEO Chris Kempchinski said. The company intends to increase the efficiency and speed of work, reduce costs and free up resources for investment in development.
“Some existing jobs today could be moved or eliminated,” Mr. Kempczynski said. The Wall Street Journal.
In a memo to employees, the CEO said there would be an assessment of “the role and levels of staff” and “difficult discussions” followed by “difficult decisions.” Some projects “will be deprioritized” or completely stopped.
The number of employees of the corporate business and restaurants of McDonald’s itself has 200 thousand people. More than 75% of them are outside the US. In total, more than 2 million people work under the McDonald’s franchise in the world.
