Mayakovka will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the theater throughout the new season

Anniversary program: walks with Nemolyaeva and Kostolevsky, entrance exams to a theater university with Prokofieva

At the Theatre. Vl. Mayakovsky, celebrating its 100th anniversary, a new season has opened. The start was given by showing performances marked by theatrical awards.

In May, Yegor Peregudov was appointed artistic director of Mayakovka, and in July Ekaterina Lapshina became the director. New chief artist Vladimir Arefiev and chief lighting designer Andrey Abramov arrived, as well as Mila Denyova.

It all starts with the anniversary of Mikhail Filippov, who turned 75 on August 15, 50 of which he has been working in Mayakovka. A series of other dates will follow. Actors Yuri Nikulin and Igor Kostolevsky have been serving in the theater for 55 years, Tatyana Potapova, head of the costume department, Tatyana Druyan, a troupe for 40 years, Anna Salkova, make-up artist, 30 years, and actress Maria Boltneva, 20 years. And this is not a complete anniversary list.

They will remember in the anniversary year the “builders” of the Theater of the Revolution, from which Mayakovka is counting. These are Vsevolod Meyerhold, Nikolai Okhlopkov, Alexei Popov, Andrey Goncharov. The phenomenon of these creators is studied at scientific conferences and master classes. We will talk about what Meyerhold’s biomechanics is today, and how the pedagogical methodology of Alexei Popov and Andrey Goncharov differs. On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the birth of Andrey Goncharov, a play theater laboratory will be held, the participants of which will be able to work on performances for two months, and will show them to the public in January.

On October 29, on the day of the theater’s centenary, the stage almanac “History” directed by Yegor Peregudov will be presented with the participation of masters who will appear in an unexpected role. “I asked our folk and honored artists to choose stories that they would like to present to themselves and the audience this evening,” says Yegor Peregudov. – Everyone chose very different things – both sad, and funny, and lyrical; and what they once already played, and what they always wanted to play.

The next premieres are “Remembering my unfortunate ones …” based on the works of Marquez, staged by Yegor Peregudov with the participation of Igor Kostolevsky. “Marquez’s magical realism is close to me as a way of interacting with reality – when you can transform the world around you with the power of your imagination,” says Egor Peregudov. – Sometimes it seems that this is currently the only thing that people of art can do. For a long time I was engaged in the novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude” with young guys, students. Now I want to plunge into the world of magical realism with folk artists, stage masters, especially since Marquez’s latest works are very bitter, confessional, but at the same time very life-affirming.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the playwright Alexander Ostrovsky, his play “The Forest” will be staged. The Small Stage will host the premiere of Faust directed by Vera Kamyshnikova, based on the mystical story of Goethe, reworked by Turgenev. A performance directed by film director Sergei Ursulyak is planned for the spring of 2023.

On the occasion of the centenary, it will be possible to take an audio walk with Vladimir Mayakovsky and theater actors along the nearby lanes and boulevards, walk past Stanislavsky’s house in Leontievsky, the church where Pushkin was married. Together with Svetlana Nemolyaeva, Igor Kostolevsky, Anna Ardova, Olga Prokofieva, it will be possible to cross the threshold of a theater university and feel like applicants.
