The speaker of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, proposed marking Telegram channels that publish information “hostile” towards Russia with badges similar to foreign agents. The first deputy head of the international committee of the Federation Council Vladimir Dzhabarov complained about the activities of such channels.
During the plenary session, he said that many Russians, especially young people, receive information not from TV, but from the Internet, including from Telegram. “After the start of the special operation, more than 100 Telegram channels were created, which are disguised as Russian ones,” says Mr. Dzhabarov (quoted by RIA Novosti).
He did not give examples of such “masking”, just as he did not specify what channels he was talking about. He suggested asking Roskomnadzor to provide the Federation Council with quarterly information about the activities of such “hostile” Telegram channels.
Ms. Matviyenko stressed that she did not know whether the implementation of this idea was technically possible. “When enemy channels, from Ukraine, for example, put their flag, and many camouflage. Maybe Roskomnadzor, which also flags foreign agents or undesirable structures, should think so that people, when reading, understand who is behind this and what the purpose of these Internet portals and channels is, the speaker of the Federation Council expressed her opinion.
