Vocalist, guitarist and lyricist of the musical group Markscheider Kunst Sergei Efremenko died on January 22 at the age of 51 at the Pokrovskaya hospital in St. Petersburg, reported “Fontanka” musician and band director Denis Rachkov. According to him, Mr. Efremenko has not been feeling well since December.
According to the publication, the musician’s last performance as part of Markscheider Kunst took place in St. Petersburg on January 19. The concert was dedicated to the vocalist’s birthday on January 23. The last time Mr. Efremenko appeared on stage was on January 21 with the project Tres Muchachos & compaeros. The concert also took place in St. Petersburg. Fontanka, citing the artist’s relatives, reported that he suffered ailments on his feet and only recently sought medical help.
The Markscheider Kunst group was formed in St. Petersburg in 1992 by student surveyors (mining engineers). At the beginning, the group performed songs in the rockabilly genre, later the influence of blues became noticeable in the group’s music, and even later – Latin, Jamaican and ethnic motifs, rumba and jazz.
