Marketplaces will have to label products from next year

On July 29, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a government decree (No. 1351), which equates marketplaces with other participants in the turnover in relation to the rules for mandatory product labeling. It follows from the document that from March 1, 2023, online platforms will be responsible for not transferring information to the Honest Sign system and selling counterfeit goods.
This means that any aggregator is now obliged to label the goods being sold, even if it does not store these goods in a warehouse, as large marketplace owners, such as Ozon or Wildberries, do, Dmitry Galantsev, managing partner of the Propositum Law Office, explains. Stepan Khantimirov, a lawyer at the Asterisk Law Office, recalls that shoes, clothes, tires, perfumes, bicycles, drinking water, dairy products, tobacco products and some other goods are currently subject to labeling. Some of them, he says, may be counterfeit because they are the easiest to fake.
