Marketplaces have occupied almost half of the Russian e-commerce market

The share of the five largest marketplaces (Wildberries, Ozon, AliExpress Russia, SberMegaMarket and Yandex.Market) in the II quarter of 2022 amounted to 69% of the total number of online orders in Russia and 44% in monetary terms. Such data were announced by the head of the sales department of the SberMegaMarket marketplace Anton Sizemin at the conference Retail Day: e-com, logistics, warehousesorganized by Kommersant Publishing House.
“The figures show that in the second quarter, the top five marketplaces account for almost half of the e-commerce market and, most likely, this trend will continue to develop further. More than 500 billion rubles. amounted to sales and the market continues to grow,” said Mr. Sizemin.
Among the main trends, the representative of SberMegaMarket singled out the seller’s desire to cooperate with several marketplaces at once: “By developing the number of sites, sellers develop their turnover. It started with large retailers, then this trend was picked up by sellers of average productivity, and now we see that already small companies and individual entrepreneurs are doing the same.
According to Data Insight, the volume of the e-commerce market in Russia in 2021 grew by 52% and amounted to 4.1 trillion rubles. The number of orders more than doubled to 1.7 billion, the average check amounted to 2.4 thousand rubles, which is 26% less than a year earlier.
