Serial production of Russian medium-haul aircraft MS-21 with a domestic engine can be launched in 2025. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“Starting from 2025, we will mass-produce this aircraft and supply it to consumers,” he said (cit. according to RIA Novosti).
December 29 Irkut Corporation (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation) received from Rosaviatsia approval for the installation of a domestically produced PD-14 engine and a wing made of domestically produced composite materials on the MS-21 aircraft. The department emphasized that this year more than 160 successful flight tests of the MS-21 with the PD-14 power plant were carried out, as a result, the engine showed results that are not inferior to foreign counterparts.
In September, for the MS-21 aircraft project singled out 15 billion rubles in addition to those allocated by the government in January 2019. Then 10.5 billion rubles were allocated. for the creation, production and maintenance of these aircraft. The money had to be received within three years: in 2019 – 1.58 billion rubles, in 2020 and 2021. – 4.11 billion and 4.81 billion rubles. respectively.
