Manturov flew on a Russian MS-21 aircraft

Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov flew to Ulyanovsk on a Russian medium-range aircraft MS-21, reported government press office.

“Denis Manturov arrived in Ulyanovsk accompanied by the General Director of PJSC”UAC“Yuri Slyusar and General Director of Rossiya Airlines Jan Burg on the newest MS-21 aircraft in the airline’s livery,” the statement said.

In Ulyanovsk, Manturov visited the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, where he got acquainted with the course of life tests of the MS-21 and SSJ-NEW aircraft, as well as the production site of PJSC Il – Aviastar.

Formerly Rosaviatsia approved installation by Irkut Corporation (part of UAC state corporation “Rostec”) on the MS-21 of the domestic PD-14 engine and a wing made of composite materials of domestic production. The department emphasized that this year more than 160 successful flight tests of the MS-21 with the PD-14 power plant were carried out, the engine showed results that are not inferior to foreign counterparts. On December 30, Manturov announced that mass production of the MS-21 with Russian engines would begin in 2025.

On October 17, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the government would allocate 15 billion rubles. for equipment for aircraft factories, including those producing the domestic MS-21 passenger aircraft. Then Mishustin noted that the second prototype of the MS-21 aircraft with Russian PD-14 engines made a long flight – more than five hours.

In September, for the MS-21 aircraft project singled out additional 15 billion rubles. This is not the first time that budget funds have been allocated to support the MS-21 project. In January 2019, the government allocated 10.5 billion rubles. for the creation, production and maintenance of these aircraft. The money had to be received within three years: in 2019 – 1.58 billion rubles, in 2020 and 2021. – 4.11 billion and 4.81 billion rubles. respectively.
