Mangazeya may build a small LNG plant in Yamal

The Mangazeya Group of Companies is considering the construction of a small-tonnage complex for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Sergey Yanchukov, founder and owner of Mangazeya, said in an interview with Vedomosti. The capacity of the future plant will be 55,000 tons per year.
Yanchukov explained that the plant will be built on the basis of the company’s Terelskoye field, whose gas reserves are about 100 billion cubic meters. m and are classified as hard-to-recover (Turonian deposits). According to him, Mangazeya has found a technology that will make it possible to economically extract gas from this field, and is now looking for a way to monetize it. The businessman explained that the Terelskoye field is located far from the gas transportation system of Gazprom – about 150-160 km in a straight line – and the construction of a pipeline to it from the field is unprofitable.
