Magnit will start hiring foreigners due to staff shortage – Kommersant

Retailer Magnit is launching a program to recruit line personnel among foreign citizens. IN press release It is reported that the company has difficulty recruiting employees from Russia, so the retailer will begin cooperation with other countries.

“Retail is facing serious challenges in the labor market, which are leading to a shortage of line personnel – store employees, distribution centers, and drivers. Therefore, Magnit is changing its approach to working with personnel and expanding the target audience for hiring. Part of this approach is hiring citizens of other countries,” Magnit’s press service quotes HR Director Anna Bobrova as saying.

At the first stage, 40 citizens of Uzbekistan will be recruited to work at the distribution center in Tatarstan. Magnit signed an agreement with the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan. As part of this agreement, the company will pay for the relocation of employees, and will also provide them with free housing and food until they receive a labor patent, and will help with paperwork and preparation for the Russian language exam.

The company is also considering the possibility of hiring personnel from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as from foreign countries (primarily from India). Foreign citizens will mainly be considered in logistics operations for the positions of storekeepers, pickers and loaders, according to a press release.
