Retailer “Magnit” (MOEX: MGNT) opened the first distribution center for the B1 hard discounter chain, which the company launched in February. This is stated in a press release on website companies.
“A feature of the distribution center for the hard discounter format is a higher inventory turnover. Therefore, the warehouse provides more space for floor storage and processing of goods using cross-docking and pick by line technologies,” the statement said.
The press service added that the distribution center is located in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region and is designed to serve up to 200 stores in Moscow and the Moscow region. Products will come there from 350 suppliers. Some goods will also be brought to B1 stores from other Magnit distribution centers in order to reduce logistics costs.
Currently, as the company clarified, the B1 brand unites 21 stores in Moscow and the Moscow region. By the end of the year, Magnit plans to open several dozen more outlets of the discounter chain.
