Magnit bought a greenhouse complex for growing tomatoes from Abramovich’s son

The operating company of the Magnit retailer, JSC Tander, became the owner of the Greenhouse company, which specializes in growing premium tomatoes. According to SPARK-Interfax, the deal was closed on August 5. The seller is the investment company Sigma Capital, owned by the son of billionaire Roman Abramovich Arkady. The representative of Magnit confirmed the fact of the transaction, but refused to comment on its terms and further plans for the development of the Greenhouse business. Representatives of Sigma Capital and Gazprombank (which holds stakes in this company) did not respond to Vedomosti’s requests.
Greenhouse owns a greenhouse complex with an area of 24.5 hectares, as well as a sorting and packaging center in the Belgorod region. The company supplies its products to federal chain retailers – Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Magnit, Azbuka Vkusa, etc. In 2021, Greenhouse received a net loss under RAS in the amount of 488.2 million rubles, which is almost half as much as a year ago. But its revenue for the same period, according to SPARK-Interfax, increased by 35%, amounting to 1.5 billion rubles.
