Lukashenko supports the construction of a high-speed railway from Moscow to Minsk – Kommersant

The construction of a high-speed railway (HSR) from Moscow to Minsk is quite feasible, says President Vladimir Putin. He stated this during a visit to the Ural Locomotives plant in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk Region. According to him, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko supports this idea.

Mr Putin said the construction of a high-speed line between Moscow and St Petersburg was “just the beginning”. He said that in the future, the organization of such a message in the direction of Ryazan, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Adler, and also Minsk is being considered. The President of the Russian Federation clarified that he discussed this topic with his Belarusian colleague. “As for Minsk, we discussed this issue with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, he also supports it,” said Vladimir Putin (quoted from website Kremlin).

General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov expected that the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed rail line would be built by 2030. As Kommersant-SPb reported, the construction of the highway supported representatives of the six regions through which the railway will pass. RBC wrotethat the conditional price of a trip on the HSR will be 5,008 rubles. In December 2023, the Ministry of Transport was talking aboutthat HSR funding has not yet been approved.

Today, February 15, Vladimir Putin visited Uralvagonzavod in Nizhny Tagil. He inspected the new transmission workshop and also talked with the plant’s workers.
