Revenue of the German airline Lufthansa in the third quarter increased by 8%, amounting to €10.3 billion. Net profit increased almost one and a half times, to €1.2 billion. The company’s good results are associated with high demand for air travel after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during the summer holiday season. Lufthansa also confirmed its earlier forecast for 2023 as a whole.

The total number of seats available to Lufthansa passengers during this period reached 88% of the pre-pandemic level in 2019 – thereby increasing by 13% compared to the same quarter in 2022. Passenger traffic during the quarter increased by 15%, to 38 million passengers.

Last week Lufthansa reported, which plans to hire 2 thousand pilots by 2025. Lufthansa, like other airlines, has cut staff during the pandemic and is facing staff shortages this summer.
