Lufthansa returns to profitability for first time since pandemic began

Lufthansa Group completed 2022 with a net profit of €791 million, follows from the financial reporting groups. The group’s revenue almost doubled last year – from €16.8 billion to €32.8 billion. And operating profit reached €1.5 billion against a loss of €1.7 billion a year earlier.

The airlines of the Lufthansa Group carried around 102 million passengers in 2022, more than double the figure for 2021 (47 million). And the workload of flights at the end of last year reached almost 80% against 61.6% in 2021. According to Mr. Spohr, the demand for air travel remains strong in 2023.
