Loading on the Russian Railways network in January amounted to 94.8 million tons – Kommersant

In January 2024, loading on the networks of Russian Railways OJSC amounted to 94.8 million tons – 4.3% less than in the same period last year. Freight turnover decreased by 9.4% and amounted to 207.1 billion tariff ton-km, reported press service RUSSIAN RAILWAYS.
The following goods were shipped by railways:
- hard coal – 29.1 million tons (-4.3%);
- oil and petroleum products – 17.6 million tons (-4.7%);
- iron and manganese ore – 8.4 million tons (-11.7%);
- ferrous metals – 5.1 million tons (-4.9%);
- grains – 2.4 million tons (+3.5%);
- construction cargo – 7.1 million tons (-21.3%);
- chemical and mineral fertilizers – 5.6 million tons (+7.7%).
According to the results of 2023, the loading of JSC Russian Railways decreased by 0.2% compared to 2022 and was 0.9% lower than planned. The indicator decreased due to restrictions on the supply of petroleum products for export in the fourth quarter, problems with locomotives and large-scale construction. By the end of 2024, Russian Railways expects loading growth by 2.7%.
