Loading on the network of Russian Railways increased by 2.3% in March

In March, loading on the Russian Railways railway network increased by 2.3% compared to the same period in 2022, to 109 million tons. According to the results of the first quarter of the year, loading decreased by 0.8% in annual terms, to 305 million tons. This was reported in the press service Russian Railways.
According to the results of March, cargo turnover increased by 0.7% year-on-year, amounting to 236.3 billion tariff ton-km. Cargo turnover, taking into account the run of empty cars, amounted to 293.9 billion ton-km, which is 0.4% more than the same period in 2022.
According to the results of the first quarter of the year, freight turnover increased to 677.3 billion tariff ton-km, which is 2.6% more than the results of the same period in 2022, freight turnover, taking into account the run of empty cars, to 842.8 billion ton-km, which is 1.6% more than the previous similar indicator.
In the first quarter, loading in the transportation of grain increased the most – the figure increased by 36%, to 7.6 million tons. Construction cargo loading increased by 17.5% to 31 million tons. Most of all, the indicator decreased in the transportation of industrial raw materials and molding materials – by 6.2 million tons (-25.2% in annual terms), timber cargo – by 6.9 million tons (-21.6%), ferrous scrap – by 2.5 million tons (-13.6%).
