Social network LinkedIn announced on Monday that it intends to cut 688 jobs, or about 3% of the company’s total workforce. The cuts will affect the engineering, product development, finance and recruiting departments. For LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, this will be the second round of cuts this year. In May, it announced it would cut 716 positions in sales, operations and support.
Technology companies have started actively reduce staffing at the end of 2022, and this trend continues in the market until now. According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, in the first half of 2023, technology companies laid off a total of about 141.5 thousand people. For comparison: for the same period in 2022, the number of reductions was only 6 thousand.
