Lindt is not considering options to continue operating in Russia

Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Sprüngli said it was not considering any alternative options to continue business in Russia. told TASS in the representative office of the company.
“We have completely stopped direct deliveries of products and at the moment we are not considering any alternative scenarios for doing business in Russia,” the company told the agency.
Lindt will continue to fulfill its obligations to employees, suppliers and partners under local law. However, the company noted, the decision to leave “was made after a thorough assessment.” Lindt added that at the moment there is no stable and predictable business environment in Russia that would be in the interests of the company in the medium and long term.
On March 9, the manufacturer temporarily closed stores in Russia and suspended the export of products to the Russian market. On leaving Lindt announced August 16, however, the intention to sell the Russian business has not yet been reported.
Lindt opened its first store in Russia in 2016. According to the local website, there are a total of nine stores in Russia, and products are also presented in their own online store. Lindt is known for its chocolates under the brands Lindor, P&M, Caffarellino, Swiss Classic, Excellence and more.
Lindt was not the first confectionery company to announce its withdrawal from the Russian market after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. Earlier, the confectionery manufacturer Haribo warned retail chains about the suspension of deliveries of products to the Russian market, in addition, the American chocolate manufacturer Mondelez International Inc. announced the termination of investments and advertising of its products in Russia.
