The developer of the Baikal light-engine aircraft plans to produce it only from Russian components, said Oleg Bocharov, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The first flight of “Baikal” took place in January using a General Electric H80-100 motor.
“The Baikal light-engine aircraft does not provide for any imported components. The last thing we had to change was the anti-icing system, now we already understand what materials we will make it from, ”said Mr. Bocharov during a round table in the Federation Council (quote from TASS).
Baikal is a nine-seater aircraft. Its cruising speed is up to 300 km/h, the maximum flight range is 3,000 km. “Baikal” is called the successor of the “maize” An-2.
