Leroy Merlin topped the rating of the largest foreign companies in the Russian Federation

French Leroy Merlin, Japanese JT Group and American Philip Morris topped the rating Forbes 50 largest foreign companies in Russia. The list at the end of 2022 was updated by almost half, as 22 companies suspended or closed their business in the Russian Federation. The USA retained the largest representation in the ranking.

Leaders of the ranking of the 50 largest foreign companies in the Russian Federation by revenue:

1. Leroy Merlin — 529.7 billion rubles. (France, DIY retailer);
2. JT Group – 432.6 billion rubles. (Japan, tobacco industry);
3. Philip Morris International – RUB 399.9 billion. (USA, tobacco industry);
4. PepsiCo – RUB 303.7 billion. (USA, food industry);
5. Elo Group (“Auchan”, “Atak”) – 292.6 billion rubles. (France, trade);
6. VEON (VimpelCom) – RUB 286.4 billion. (Netherlands, telecommunications);
7. Metro AG — 223.6 billion rubles. (Germany, trade);
8. Mars — 201.4 billion rubles. (USA, food industry);
9. Nestle – 195 billion rubles. (Switzerland, food industry);
10. Chery Automobile — 147.5 billion rubles. (China, cars).

The Leroy Merlin retailer took second place in the previous rating, behind the Volkswagen Group. The German company left the Russian market, the French company plans to do so. For the first time, Leroy Merlin did not disclose its financial statements; the INFOLine agency assessment was used for the rating.

In addition to the Volkswagen Group, Renault (in third place), Apple (fifth place), Toyota Motor (seventh place), Samsung Electronics (ninth place) and others dropped out of the rating, in addition to the Volkswagen Group. The departed companies on the list were replaced by businesses from China, Turkey and Belarus. However, the majority of companies in the ranking are firms from “unfriendly” Western countries.

The leadership is in the USA (representation decreased from 10 to 8 companies) and China (representation increased from 1 to 6 companies). Five companies in the ranking are from Turkey, France and Germany. Companies from Thailand (CP Foods – 44th place), Kazakhstan (Polymetal International – 13th) and Belarus (Trading House BelAZ – 38th, Santa – 39th) appeared on the list for the first time.
