As a result of an accident, the poet died in intensive care
On January 8, Lev Rubinstein was hit by a car. Right at the pedestrian crossing. The investigation established that the driver, a certain Alexander R. (63 years old), had violated traffic rules 19 times over the past year. Lev Semenovich received serious injuries and was placed in the intensive care unit of the Research Institute of Emergency Medicine named after. N.V. Sklifosovsky – under an artificial respiration apparatus. He had surgery. On the eve of the Old New Year, bitter news appeared – the 76-year-old poet died. An hour later, the friends exhaled: the daughter denied her father’s death. Prayers did not help – on January 13, Lev Rubinstein nevertheless passed away. Artist and writer Leonid Tishkov, especially for MK, recalls his last meeting with the poet and friend.
“We haven’t seen each other for a long time, and suddenly we met in Yekaterinburg on the Red Line.” And there was such joy from this meeting, such drive! We hugged him and pressed him to our hearts, of course we went to the performance – they don’t miss this. He was magnificent, as always, with a large leather bag over his shoulder… Then we went to the Underground Museum – where we were greeted like family, agreed on a joint exhibition and performances, gilded this matter with a glass, we walked around the fair – on a tray there was a book by Lev Rubinstein in the only copy – Fayzov brought his own, we, of course, bought it – a thick book of thoughts by Lev Rubinstein, his wonderful, poetic prose, his columns, essays, stories, poems… He wrote on it: “To my dear friends – Lena and Marina as a keepsake.” And yet, his words, the words of the poet, remained in our Universe, lonely and eternal, like stars in the black frosty sky.
