Two weeks after the 55th birthday, Leonid Agutin was given, perhaps, the main gift in the form of a crowded Dynamo stadium. As a return gesture, the audience received an almost three-hour concert and, as a result, did not want to let the artist go, despite the ban on noise in open areas at a later time.
Showing yourself in all its glory in XL scale is the dream of any ambitious artist. Stadium concerts are not the easiest events both technically and in terms of investment in production, but the feeling of a sold-out football arena is apparently worth all the risks.
In truth, there were some concerns before the start of the show. With all his popularity, Leonid Agutin is hardly a stadium artist musically. There are enough nuances in the concert sound of his group “Esperanto” that are not so easy to convey on a huge venue. Nevertheless, Leonid was apparently so confident in himself and his musicians that he added the whole Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestra to the group, apparently to the delight of all sound engineers.
Probably, in comparison with the sound that was eventually achieved at Dynamo, the audience, who had fun at Agutin’s performances in halls more adapted for concerts, received more “delicacies”. However, Leonid’s concerts are not only sound. It so happened that over the years hits with a taste of Latino have gathered an impressive squad of determined girls of all ages, for whom Agutin’s performances are an occasion to dress up and arrange frantic dances. And for this audience in the first place, of course, drive and atmosphere.
Both of them were more than enough, and the sight of a dancing crowd of 35,000 in itself is a powerful special effect. After a short warm-up from the orchestra, which performed several rich instrumentations of the hits of the hero of the evening, the Esperanto members and Leonid Agutin himself took the stage. The first song was “Don’t Go Far” – the audience began to seethe, to “Voice of Tall Grass”, the third number of the show – began to boil and did not get tired of doing it for almost three hours.
A stadium concert is a suitable event for all sorts of tricks that have more to do with rock and roll than stage. And Leonid, as a musician with experience of performing at festivals with a completely non-pop line-up, also decided to try. Moving the artist to the second stage, closer to the audience, always adds colors and emotions to the concert, so this complication of the event most often justifies itself.
In order not to turn the transition from one stage to another into a pause, the main artist of the evening introduced to the public his ward on the show “Voice” Cuban Willie Kay and briefly left the audience with Latin in the original interpretation. Meanwhile, on the second stage for Leonid, a piano was set up for a small acoustic set.
Technique did not immediately come to the right state after all the movements, but three songs in muffled light and sound sounded unusual, especially “Barefoot Boy”, thought up like a dance bomb. “I Can’t See You” seems to hang in the air, Leonid leaves the stage, and the song is picked up by the children’s choir and Igor Butman with a passionate solo – a trick, perhaps not the freshest, but in terms of sentiment it is trouble-free.
“How Not to Think About You” is usually performed as a duet with Anzhelika Varum, but not this time. “Angelica got sick, and incompatible with the concert, but she will get better, and of course we will sing,” Leonid said and performed a romantic hit in a solo format. The family line was taken over by Nikolai Agutin, who, if possible, joins his son on the song “Father Nearby”. As a result, in terms of duets, the audience was not deprived that evening.
The summer schedules of Leonid and his longtime colleague and friend Vladimir Presnyakov managed to be combined, and as a result, DNA and Airports were presented in all stellar abundance. “Airports” right from the moment of its premiere has become a very suitable song for the test of the vocal cords of the public. To heighten the effect, this rock ballad was dispersed into a real stadium anthem, switching the screens to black and white and showing all the possibilities of not the most modest light. But after this, the people still have a lot of strength left.
A bunch of “Ole-Ole” and “You’ll Forget About Me” feels good in the role of the perfect finale of the concert. First, dancing to exhaustion, then megakaraoke, in general, everyone is happy. However, despite the farewell without a hint of a continuation, the open gates and even the lights turned on, the audience noisily demanded to continue. “I thought it was impossible to make noise at such a time,” Leonid remarked, putting on the guitar again. Perhaps “Summer Rain” sounded contrary to city rules, but hits and popular love could be forgiven for a lot.
