Tours of the Lenkom Drama Theater in Tel Aviv’s Habima Theater are postponed indefinitely due to protests by Russian-speaking Israelis. This was announced by Gadi Oron, the producer of “Habim”, who acted as the organizer of the tour of “Lenkom”.

“Lenkom” was supposed to show in Israel at the end of October the performance “Memorial Prayer” based on the work “Tevye the Milkman” by the writer Sholom Aleichem. However, after the theatrical tour was announced on the Internet, a collection of signatures was announced calling for the cancellation of the performances due to the fact that some artists support the hostilities in Ukraine. Earlier, the Lenkom actor Andrey Leonov donated his car to the medical services of the Russian army, and Viktor Rakov and Olesya Zheleznyak stated that they supported the actions of the Russian authorities in Ukraine.
According to the publication haaretz, in just three days, a petition against the tour of the Lenkom Theater collected more than 5 thousand signatures. Israeli Russian language portal “Details” citing sources, he writes that the sponsors of the Lenkom shows in Israel were to be the Department of Culture under the Moscow government, Sberbank, as well as one of the oligarchs through a private company.
