An end has been put to the six-plus-year-long case of fraud on an especially large scale by Farid Akhverdiyev, the former director of the well-known Moscow hotel Yunost. The criminal case (Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated by the Metropolitan Police in July 2016 at the request of the management of the Lenkom Theatre.
Previously, the theater was a co-founder of the hotel complex. Subsequently, the former business partner, without the knowledge of the theater administration, having forged documents and a seal, embezzled Lenkom’s property on an especially large scale. He sold the entire block of shares under a sale and purchase agreement to the ownership of a foreign company and appropriated all the money.
The prosecution demanded eight years in prison for Farid Akhverdiyev. It was this punishment that the court handed down to him, deciding to recover the entire amount of damage caused to Lenkom. The latter should be repaid through the sale of a luxurious Moscow apartment of an Azerbaijani businessman worth 170 million rubles. The arrest was made on her back in September 2019, when it turned out that in 2018 Farid Akhverdiyev sold this house to his wife.
The trial ended with a verdict by the Khamovnichesky District Court at the end of March this year. Akhverdiyev tried first to hide in his native Baku, and then, after the verdict, to challenge it in various instances). However, as it became known to MK, on December 6, the Main Directorate of the Federal Bailiff Service for the Moscow Region finally decided to recover from the debtor Akhverdiev Farid Garib Ogly the amount of 170 million 44 thousand 425 rubles and transfer it to the State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the City of Moscow “Moscow State the Lenkom Theater of Mark Zakharov”. And you can be sure that the theater will find a worthy use for them. Moreover, the anniversary of Mark Anatolyevich Zakharov is coming, during whose lifetime the lawsuit with the fraudster could not be resolved.
