Large brewing companies are scared by the suspension of production

Large beer producers warn of the risks of suspending their activities if the bill on the register of brewers is passed in its current form. This is stated in a letter from the Association of Beer Producers (APP; unites AB InBev Efes, Baltika, Heineken Russia), sent on February 20, 2023 to the head of Rosalkogolregulirovanie (RAP) Igor Aleshin. The draft law on the register of brewers (the register of producers of beer and beer drinks, cider, poiré, mead) was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading in March 2021. From February 13, 2023, preparations are underway for its consideration in the second reading. According to the project, in order to get into the register, without which it will be impossible to continue work, it will be necessary to pass a “field assessment”. As part of it, the volumes of actual beer production will be compared with calculations using the PAP method. To do this, a formula will be applied, according to which the minimum period of beer fermentation is 18 days.
