Kusturica will make a film in Russian based on the novel by a Russian writer

The press service of the Leo Tolstoy museum-estate “Yasnaya Polyana” (Tula region) announced the intention of Serbian film director Emir Kusturica to make a film based on the novel by Russian writer Evgeniy Vodolazkin. During the First School of Film Criticism named after. Valentin Kurbatov, held at Yasnaya Polyana, Kusturica announced his plans to adapt the novel “Laurel”.
The film will be shot in Russian, and Vodolazkin himself will take part in writing the script. He stated that the first third of the script had already been approved by the director, and if Kusturica liked the remaining two thirds, they would work on that script.
The novel “Laurel” was released in 2012 and the events take place in Medieval Rus’.
Vodolazkin received recognition for this book and became a laureate of the Russian literary awards “Yasnaya Polyana” and “Big Book”.
