Konstantin Raikin appointed Rector of the Higher School of Performing Arts

The artistic director of the Satyricon Theater Konstantin Raikin has been appointed rector of the Higher School of Performing Arts (HSSI). Mr. Raikin will retain the position of artistic director of the school, said press office VSSI. Anatoly Polyankin, previous rector of the Higher School of Economics died June 30, 2022 at the age of 70.

“With the entry of Konstantin Raikin into the position of rector, the period of legal uncertainty that had lasted for a year and a half at the school ended. Currently, all legal issues are fully resolved. The HSSE team pays tribute to the role of Mr. Polyankin in the founding and development of the school,” the press service said in a statement. Mr. Raikin said that on the anniversary of Mr. Polyankin’s death, the school would install a memorial plaque in his memory.

In the spring of last year, Anatoly Polyankin was detained as part of an investigation into a criminal case of fraud on an especially large scale. According to investigators, he became one of the participants in the seizure of Konstantin Raikin’s assets. April 12, 2022 Mr. Polyankin fired Mr. Raikin from the post of artistic director of the Higher School of Economics.

The case against Anatoly Polyankin was based on a statement by Konstantin Raikin, which claimed that the former rector of the Higher School of Economics and Technology tricked the artist into signing documents, according to which almost all of his assets, including part of the Raikin Plaza shopping center, the school and others, were under the control of Mr. Polyankin and the people in whose interests he could act.
