The equipment purchased by Russian manufacturers of electronic components in Europe, Japan and the USA has risen in price by 40-50%, figured out newspaper “Kommersant”.
The presentation presented on February 10 at the Conference of the Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE) “Best practices in contract manufacturing of electronics” dealt with the German brands ASM and REHM, as well as the Japanese Omron. Their equipment in Russia is used by Russian manufacturers of printed circuit boards, Erikon Group, Promelectronica, Kompel JSC, MicroEm Technologies LLC, etc.
According to the publication, the share of equipment from unfriendly countries in Russian production reaches 90%. The cost of the production line of electronic circuit boards increased on average from 30 to 50 million rubles. This happened against the backdrop of sanctions that affected not only developers, but also manufacturers of microelectronics. Because of them, the purchase of European equipment has become a very complicated process, explained a top manager of one of the Russian manufacturers, associated with the partial dismantling of equipment in the intermediary country.
Such an increase in price will lead to an increase in prices for electronic components and end products, including laptops, Arkady Gylov, commercial director of equipment supplier Global Microelectronics, drew attention.
According to him, Russian manufacturers are eyeing Chinese equipment, but its quality is worse than European. In addition, the number of customers from electronics manufacturers may also decrease, as companies “will prefer the production of equipment in factories in countries loyal to the Russian Federation.”
According to ARPE director Ivan Pokrovsky, Russian producers need state support, because otherwise Russian products will lose to parallel imports from China. Support can be in the form of grants for the purchase of production equipment, or changes in customs regulations in order to reduce competition with foreign suppliers of components.
Earlier on February 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged scientists to create “proactive products” and developments that can ensure the technological sovereignty of the country. According to him, Russia needs “unique, globally competitive solutions” that will allow the country to be technologically independent.
