Kommersant learned about the growth in gasoline exports by almost 40% since the beginning of the year

From the beginning of 2023 until mid-April, the export of Russian gasoline increased by 38% year-on-year, to 1.8 million tons. About it informed Kommersant, citing sources.

It is specified that during this period, gasoline production increased to 11.8 million tons, which is 5% more year on year. At the same time, gasoline reserves at refineries and tank farms exceeded 2 million tons.

As for the export of diesel fuel, its supplies from Russia decreased by 3%, to 9.5 million tons. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, the production of diesel fuel has grown by 7.5%, to 23.8 million tons. It is specified that the decline in exports was offset by an increase in supplies to the domestic market. At the same time, in the first half of April, an increase in exports by 8.5%, up to 0.89 million tons, was recorded.

In early April, Vedomosti, citing Kpler data wrotethat Russian oil companies in March 2023 increased the export of petroleum products by sea by 31.2% compared to March last year to 3.13 million barrels per day. As a result, the March indicator became a historical record: the previous maximum export was recorded in February 2022 and amounted to 3.1 million barrels per day.

After the start of the JMD in Ukraine in February 2022, Western countries tightened anti-Russian sanctions. The United States and Great Britain announced in March last year that they were refusing to import Russian fuel, and the EU imposed an embargo on its sea supplies. On December 5, 2022, the EU embargo on offshore oil supplies from Russia came into force, and on February 5, 2023, the embargo on petroleum products. At the same time, restrictions on prices for Russian energy carriers began to operate. In particular, the ceiling for more expensive oil products (eg diesel fuel and gasoline) was set at $100/bbl, and for cheaper products (fuel oil) at $45/bbl.
